Here is the eighth post in our Kick the Clutter Challenge series. It challenges you to dive into your closet’s pile of handbags and shoes.
Are you obsessed with handbags, shoes or both? Is your closet runnething over with gorgeous handbags in every possible color? Of course it is: Women NEED handbags to get up in the morning! Handbags carry our daily essentials from our phones to our wallets to our pretty lipsticks (and also the eyeglasses for reading small print).
When was the last time you donated a handbag, or do you still have every single handbag from the last few years stuffed in your closet? Most of those handbags cost a few bucks or they have a special memory attached to them so it’s hard to let them go. It’s time to handle each bag and make a quick decision to keep, donate or consign your purses. Has your lifestyle changed? Maybe you’re carrying small trendy crossbody bags now to cut down on weight. Be realistic about your lifestyle now and make your decisions accordingly.
Designer handbags are a great item to put on consignment at a nearby store and should capture a good return for you. Local charities would absolutely love to have your donated handbags. Is there an organization near you that works with battered women or homeless women to help them get jobs? Wouldn’t it be amazing if your handbag helped a homeless woman land that new job? What an incredible way to pay it forward!
Last week was designated to getting your kitchen organized—is it still looking tidy? Today is dedicated to the handbags and shoes. After the handbags are handled, the shoes need attention. Some of those shoes need to go and this is another tough task for most women. They make a statement: I’m sassy—don’t mess with me, these are very expensive designer shoes, I’m practical but edgy, I travel a lot, I have bunions.
Once again, enjoy the memory those shoes carried you through, honor the memory and then let the shoes carry someone else through their journey. Sort them into piles to keep, to donate or to consign. If you haven’t worn the shoes in the last year place them in the donate or consign pile. If you’re saving them for that special occasion or you bought them on sale but haven’t touched them for a year, make a clear-cut decision to release them.
Please leave a comment and let us know how you keep your handbags and shoes organized.
