Here is the fourth post in our Kick the Clutter Challenge series. This one focuses on your Tupperware and other kitchen storage containers.
Are you afraid to open the cabinet where you keep your food storage containers? Does an avalanche ensue? Do you spend fifteen minutes looking for a top to match the container bottom? In this third day of our 16-day Kick the Clutter Challenge, we’re continuing work on the kitchen—we just spruced up the spice rack—and now facing the storage container mess.
Then examine the rest. Do you have any microwave melts? Any ill-fitting lids? Feel the freedom to move those pieces along to recycling.
Look carefully at the remaining pieces. If you have any BPA-containing containers, consider replacing them with glass or at least BPA-free plastic. BPA, or Bisphenol A, has been shown in some studies to leach into food or liquids. The problem is that BPA has been found in the urine of children. It has also been found to affect fetuses and newborns. Read more here.
When you’re done sifting through your stash, organize what you have left. Stack the glass containers and place the lids in a basket for easy access.
