Here is the thirteenth post in our Kick the Clutter Challenge series. With this challenge, you have to peek under beds to see what lurks there.
There’s a lot of extra space under your beds so more than likely a few items were hidden there over the years. Peek under the beds and then pull all the items out to sort through.
Did your kids leave art projects, diaries and photos of homecomings under their beds? Pack it all up into a container for them and then they can sort through it—unless your kids have talked you into storing their items for a few more months, and we all know that means a few more years. It’s time to pass their memorabilia onto them so they can sort through it.
Do you even know which items are stuffed under your beds? Are you storing shoes or seasonal clothing in storage containers? If you don’t even know what’s hiding under there, then those items are definitely not needed in your life. None of the items are bringing sparkle to your day so you can let go of all of it.
Purge through all the stuff that’s been hiding. Divide the items into three piles: one pile of stuff to keep, one pile of items to donate and one pile for the garbage.
Feng Shui recommends that spaces under beds be clear so chi can flow. The energy of chi should be able to circulate under your bed. We don’t want to sleep on top of old memorabilia or winter clothing when it’s summer outside. Sleep is for restoring and rejuvenating and we don’t want anything to get in our way while we sleep. Leave a comment below and let us know if you sleep better after you purge through the excess that’s stored under your beds. Is this process of decluttering making a difference in your life?
